Armstrong-based Art's Way Manufacturing Co. Inc., a distributor of agricultural machinery and equipment, announced a 45.1 percent year over year decrease in net income for the three months ended May 31. Net income was $514,000, or 13 cents per share, down from $936,000, or 23 cents per share, in the same period a year ago. Net sales were down 20.8 percent for the period. For the six-month period ending May 31, net income was up by 18.2 percent year-over year, despite sales being down by 1.8 percent overall. The company said in a news release that the change from the first quarter to the second quarter was "primarily attributable to the timing in net sales, offset by the first quarter net gain realized from the sale of certain land near Armstrong."
