Joseph Giunta will conduct SIBELIUS&rsquo Finlandia, GRIEG&rsquo s Piano Concerto, and MAHLER&rsquo s Symphony No. 5. Grieg&rsquo s Piano Concerto is one of the most beloved and recognizable works of all time&mdash from the dramatic cascade of chords that opens the masterpiece to its triumphant ending. It is especially illuminating when performed by Joyce Yang, the young &ldquo million-volt&rdquo Van Cliburn Silver Medalist. And Mahler&rsquo s Symphony No. 5, with nearly 100 of our gifted musicians revealing the tremendous artistic achievements of your Des Moines Symphony Orchestra over 75 years&mdash this emotional and transformational piece will leave you breathless.
