Prairie Meadows Conference Center, Altoona
NAWBO Iowa, the state chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, holds its annual signature educational and networking event, its Women Mean Business® Summit, on April 1 at the Prairie Meadows Conference Center in Altoona. The “Clarify-Collaborate-Contribute-Celebrate” Summit features ten women presenters as well as networking opportunities throughout the day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The program includes leadership lessons from keynoters Miriam Erickson Brown, CEO of Anderson Erickson Dairy in Des Moines, and Dawn Ainger, CEO of Genova Technologies in Cedar Rapids. Workshop sessions are scheduled on personal branding, business growth through succession, navigating tough moments, and roadblocks to organizational performance. Those seminars will be presented by Deborah Rinner Godwin of Tero International, Lana Pol and Tiffany Van Zante of Geetings, Inc. and G.I. Warehouse Corporation, Sinikka Waugh of Your Clear Next Step, and Dr. T. Waldmann-Williams of TWW Consulting. “The day is designed for women business owners but is applicable for any business or professional person interested in career growth and achieving success,” said Kristen Hall, owner of KH Mediation and chair of the NAWBO Iowa Summit. “The Summit also provides companies that target ambitious and influential Iowa women with an opportunity to reach them as sponsors and exhibitors. We expect more than 300 attendees, and registration is discounted through March 6.” For the seventh time the Summit will include a woman business owner panel, with successful business leaders sharing their personal and professional experiences through presentations as well as dialogue with each other. This year’s panel members are Megan McKay of McKay Insurance and Peachtree Brewery in Knoxville, Lisa Gran of Splashlight Solutions in West Des Moines and Dr. Susan Wood of Vida Diagnostics in Coralville. Moderator is Laura Scott of Morgan Stanley in Davenport. A silent auction will be included to benefit professional development for women through NAWBO, as well.
