Rally your cycling friends for a leisurely bike ride through the greater Des Moines metro to visit four beautiful gardens. Proceeds support the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. Riders may start from the Botanical Garden anytime between 8 and 9 a.m.
Choose between an eight or 33-mile bicycle ride on metro trails. The short route includes one stop and riders may choose to drive to the other gardens. Refreshments provided at each stop.
Registration fee is $30 in advance, $35 day of the ride. Check-in and leave from the Botanical Garden between 8 and 9 a.m. Riders receive a technical fabric shirt, free plant and admission to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden on ride day. Participants can also enjoy these day-of specials of a 20% discount at Iowa Outdoor Products and $2 tall boys at Mullets. Goodie bags for the first 300 to sign-in include tickets to an I-Cubs game!

Sign up today to compete, make friends and more at this year’s Iowa Senior Olympics, which will be held this summer in the Des Moines area.
A variety of sports including golf, tennis, track and field, bowling, swimming, racquetball, Pickleball®, horseshoes and basketball will be available for participants. One of the highlights will be the annual Granny Basketball® tournament, in which players wearing vintage uniforms play basketball games following the rules for six-on-six basketball. The games are open to anyone who will be age fifty and up at the end of this year calendar year.
You can register online at www.iowaseniorolympics.com, via mail to 3550 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50265 or as a walk-in to the West Des Moines Community School District’s temporary offices at 815 8th Street, West Des Moines (just south of Grand Avenue and north of the Valley Junction area).
The registration fee is $40. There are additional fees for those participating in bowling or golf. Registrations which are mailed in must be postmarked no later than June 3. The deadline for on-line registration is 6 p.m. June 7.

Green Days is an annual community celebration held in Johnston, Iowa, next to the Johnston Public Library. The 2013 festival will be held June 13th-16th.
Activities include a parade, carnival, children's activities, entertainment in the beverage garden, rib cook-off contest, Bill Riley Talent Search, Classic Car Show, 5K walk and run and much more! ADMISSION IS FREE!
Green Days is organized by the Johnston Chamber of Commerce.

Bike MS: Cruise the Cornfields, June 23 through June 24, 2012, is a fully supported, weekend ride covering up to 150 miles with a festive overnight in Ames, Iowa. The ride will begin in Ankeny. Cyclists have the option of choosing a 35- or 75-mile route to and from Ames. These routes are different each day. Saturday's route will include the local and newly done High Trestle Trail!
Currently the registration fee is $30 &mdash an amazing value which includes a commemorative ride T-shirt, swag bag, a finish line meal, food and drinks at rest stops, Saturday night banquet, mechanical support and medical support, police and volunteer support, support vans, entertainment and much more!
