80/35 sets out to be more green

The Greater Des Moines Music Coalition has teamed up with several Des Moines "green" businesses to make the 80/35 music festival a little more eco-friendly.
At this year's festival, recycling and compost bins can be found throughout the festival grounds. Recycling start-up RecycleMe Iowa LLC has organized the recycling efforts, and Des Moines' GreenRU will provide bins for compostable items.
The Music Coalition is also encouraging concertgoers to bike to the festival this weekend. Anyone riding a bicycle can park it in a special "bike valet" area that will be monitored by volunteers to ensure safety.
Water stations will be available throughout the festival, and concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own water bottle to use for the entirety of the festival.
On Saturday, Meredith Corp. is sponsoring the Meredith Green Zone, located next to the Nationwide Kids Zone, to showcase local businesses focused on sustainability.
