More than 20,000 people dined during the fifth annual Des Moines Restaurant WeekAug.17-26, contributing $285,000 in economic impact. This was an increase over 2011, when an estimated 19,000 visited Greater Des Moines restaurants, leaving around a quarter of a million dollars to the Greater Des Moines economy. Restaurants offered special fixed-price menus at $25 for two lunches or one dinner. Ron and Bonnie Millard of West Des Moines won the trip for two to California's Sonoma County. Restaurant Week is organized by The Business Record, dsm magazine and the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau.
