Hoyt Sherman Place announced it has received a grant from Metro Waste Authority to establish a recycling program for the historic site. The $1,967 grant will fund the initial setup of the program, allowing the organization to purchase recycling containers for the historic theater lobby and art galleries. Recycling will be available throughout the facility starting in early September. The entertainment and events industry has become increasingly focused on environmental sustainability, and clients are seeking to hold events at venues that are committed to those efforts, the organization said in a release. More than 75,000 people the historic mansion, theater and art galleries annually.
