Hansen Real Estate Services Inc. said it will break ground Oct. 14 on City Square, a hotel and apartment development that will occupy a city block in the East Village. The site address is 201 E. Locust St., the former location of a Jeep dealership and rental car operation. Hansen acquired the property in 2007. City Square Lofts LLC and Siegeworks Lodging LLC will build a six-story hotel with 137 rooms, seven-story residential project with 124 market-rate apartments and a 317-stall parking garage. The estimated project cost is $49 million. The hotel will be owned by former University of Iowa, three-time NCAA champion and Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Lincoln McIlravy, who founded Siegeworks Lodging. The apartment complex and parking garage are being developed by the father-and-son duos of Craig Hansen and Troy Hansen and Michael Gartner and Michael Gartner Jr. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
