The city of Des Moines Park and Recreation Department is considering a project that could double recreational space in one north Des Moines neighborhood, according to KCCI.com. For more than 50 years, the Riverview Park area was home to a popular amusement park. It's been empty land since the 1970s, but city leaders told the news station it's time for a change - and they want input from the public to decide what to do with it. Some ideas include making the area at 701 Corning Ave. like a second Gray's Lake, with space to kayak, have fishing tournaments and other recreational activities for families to enjoy, the article said. A public meeting will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Park Fair Mall in Des Moines. Everyone is invited to give input.
