A city of Des Moines' survey of its citizens shows that while 81 percent are satisfied with the quality of life here, fewer residents (71 percent) are satisfied with the quality of the downtown area and even fewer (61 percent) expressed satisfaction with city services. The survey also indicated that the city of Des Moines should focus on three primary areas for improvement: its reliance on property taxes, the quality of community assets and the quality of public safety.
