Valley View Village Senior
Community in eastern Des Moines broke ground this afternoon on a new $12
million health center. The health center, which is expected to take 12 to 14
months to complete, is part of an ongoing update of the not-for-profit
continuum of care community, which completed a $6 million assisted living
building in 2010.
Located at 2571 Valley View
Drive, the new health center will include 79 mostly private rooms with private
bathrooms, a specialized area for dementia and memory care, a transitional care
area for short-term, specialized therapy and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation
gym. The rooms and common areas will provide a homelike atmosphere for
residents. The new facility will replace a building that was constructed in

Plans for a third phase to expand
Valley View Village's memory care and catered apartments in the current
assisted living building will begin following completion of the new health
center, officials said in a release.
The senior community, which serves approximately
220 residents across its independent living, assisted living and skilled
nursing care areas, was acquired in 2007 by Elim Care, a senior housing and
health care ministry affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America.
