Des Moines Area Community College has received a $199,713 federal grant to increase student enrollment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. The grant was awarded by the National Science Foundation to support the Technicians in Engineering, Automation and Machinery project at DMACC, which focuses on helping students obtain an applied science, electronics or robotics and automation degree. The curriculum developed through the grant will be aligned with the standards of the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology, of which there are currently no accredited programs in the state.
