A recent survey found that 51 percent of U.S. consumers switched service providers across a number of sectors last year, Marketing Daily reported.

That is a 5 percent increase over the previous year. The ninth annual Global Consumer Pulse Survey took information from more than 12,000 consumers in the United States.

Many consumers expressed frustration with a company's ability to meet expectations, and 91 percent of consumers said they were frustrated that they had to contact a company multiple times for the same issue.
