The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) board approved $825,000 in tax credits for Pittsburgh-based H.J. Heinz Co. for a $24.5 million expansion of its Muscatine plant. According to the agency's board packet, the company is planning to expand its 847,000-square-foot plant with a remodel and adding more machinery and equipment. The plant produces ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard and gravy. The expansion is expected to create 106 jobs. IEDA also approved $75,000 in direct financial assistance for Iowa City-based design firm ConnectFive, which plans to relocated to a larger building in Coralville, part of a capital investment expected to create 10 jobs.
