The Iowa Transportation Commission will finance several local projects as part of a four-year improvements plan. In addition to several large highway projects across the state, the commission today approved a $125,000 expansion to the Des Moines B-cycle program for public bicycles downtown; $139,000 toward connecting the Raccoon River Valley Trail to the High Trestle Trail; $750,000 for intersection improvements at Meredith and Northwest Urbandale drives in Urbandale; $198,043 to the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority to improve the Merle Hay Road express route; and $172,000 for a traffic adaptive signal system at 22nd Street in West Des Moines. Click here for more information.
