Business conditions in Iowa led conditions in eight other states covered in a monthly index, even though the state's score dropped to 59.1 in January from 61.5 in December. The index is compiled by Creighton University from a survey of supply managers. Iowa's scores were 60.8 for new orders, 66.5 for production or sales, 51.6 for delivery lead time, 59.4 for employment and 57.1 for inventories. For a third straight month, the overall Mid-America Business Conditions Index increased, rising to 57.7 from 53.2 in December. Other states in the survey are Arkansas, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota. Click here to read a news release about the report for January.
