Metro area home prices up over last year, but lagged national number

Greater Des Moines house prices increased 3.3 percent over the year ending in September, real estate analytics firm CoreLogic Inc. said today. Prices dropped 0.4 percent from August to September, CoreLogic said. Excluding the sales of distressed properties, prices increased 4.7 percent on a year-to-year basis and decreased 0.2 percent month-to-month. Nationally, house prices increased 12 percent over the year, CoreLogic said.
