The Iowa Business Council (IBC)
on Monday announced that the Iowa Department of Revenue won the fourth annual
Iowa Partners in Efficiency Award. The department's director, Courtney
Kay-Decker, accepted the award from Gov. Terry Branstad on behalf of the state
agency, which administers tax law and regulations in Iowa. The agency received
the award for its efforts in developing a computer application that streamlined
its process for applying accounts receivable adjustments, reducing delays by 97
percent and saving more than $200,000 in staff time annually. "Regulatory
functions must perform as efficiently as possible if Iowa business is to
compete effectively," IBC Executive Director Elliott Smith said in a
release.
