A public forum will be held to
discuss the potential creation of a Latino center in Central Iowa.
The Latino
Forum, an offshoot of the Capital Crossroads initiative, is exploring the
possibilities for establishing a Latino center that could serve as a bridge
with the community at large and could present the Latino culture.
More than
38,000 Latinos live in the Des Moines metropolitan area, but no central
organization represents them.
The forum, which will include small-group
discussions, will be Feb. 21 at North High School, 501 Holcomb Ave,. from 6:30
to 8 p.m.
