Substance abuse treatment program for women to open
Thursday, February 21, 2013 10:50 AM
Bridges of Iowa, a substance abuse treatment program, will open a women's wing.
The new program is supported by a $75,000 grant from the Community Foundation
of Greater Des Moines and a $50,000 grant from Prairie Meadows Racetrack and
Casino.
Bridges of Iowa currently only provides long-term substance abuse
treatment programs for men, and it saw a need to have a similar program in Des
Moines for women.
A ribbon cutting will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on March 12 at
the facility, located at the Polk County Jail, 1985 N.E. 51st Place.
