The following are the most frequently asked questions we receive regarding the businessrecord.com website. Questions have been answered as thoroughly as possible, with known fixes and solutions. Why can’t I view certain articles?
Businessrecord.com has a two-tiered strategy when it comes to accessing content on the site. Latest news items, which also appear in our free twice-daily e-newsletters Business Record Daily AM & PM, are available for anyone to access. Premium members-only content is contained in the Business Record Insider’s area of the site and is limited to those who have a paid subscription to the weekly Business Record publication. Here are some reasons you might not be able to access this content:
- You are not currently a Business Record Insider member. This could be because you have never subscribed to the weekly print or digital page-turning edition of the Business Record. To start a membership to the Business Record click here. It could also be because your existing membership to the Business Record has expired. To renew your membership, click here or call Alison Damon at 515.288.3336.
- If you are a current member you may need to log in to the site to receive full access. You can enter your username and password on the log in page (click here to access). This will give you full member access to site content. The system is set up to keep you logged unless you specifically log out. If this is not happening, click the “remember me” box when logging in.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can access it here.

I can’t remember my password. What do I do?
If you are an active member and have forgotten your password you can access it by using the built in password recovery tool. Reset your password here. An email with further instructions will be sent to you.
I have to log in every time I try to access members only content at businessrecord.com. Why is that?
The system is set to remember your password so on repeat visits you will not have to login. If this is not happening for you check the “remember me” box when logging in and this should fix the issue.
If not, you may need to enable cookies in your internet browser. Accessing settings varies slightly from browser to browser.
Do I have to be a Business Record member to receive the Business Record Daily and other electronic newsletters?
No. The Business Record Daily AM & PM editions, Commercial Real Estate Weekly, Business Record Iowa and LIFT Iowa are all still available free of charge. Click here to register to receive the newsletters.
Is all content on the BusinessRecord.com website members only?
No. The latest news section of our website, updated twice daily with the latest business news from the Business Record Daily newsletters is still available for everyone to view as are pages regarding our events, etc.
Members only content consists of anything that appeared in the weekly edition of the Business Record, special breaking news stories not available in print, video features such as the CEO round tables and weekly Business Record Insider videos.
Becoming a member is a three-step process. First you register a user name and password for your new account. Once you submit this information you will be redirected to a secure online payment area to complete the financial side of the transaction. Once steps one and two have been completed you will receive a confirmation email sent to the email address associated with your account. Clicking the link provided in the confirmation email will activate your account and you will have access to Business Record Insider content from that point forward.
