Gov. Terry Branstad signed legislation Tuesday that makes $6 million available for workforce training programs and half of that will be available to unions and businesses for apprenticeship programs that the Iowa Department of Economic Development oversees, reports DesMoinesRegister.com. The state is trying to eliminate a shortage of skilled and qualified workers, particularly in the construction and manufacturing industries.
