Iowa's unemployment rate dropped to 4.3 percent in April from 4.5 percent in March, Iowa Workforce Development announced today. The state unemployment rate was 4.7 percent a year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate was at 6.3 percent in April. The total number of unemployed Iowans decreased to 73,700 in April from 75,800 in March and 77,600 a year ago. The total number of working Iowans increased by 6,000 from March and 31,600 from a year ago.
