The turtle or the snail: U.S. economic growth slower than first thought

The U.S. economy grew a touch more slowly in the first three months of the year than previously reported, mainly because of a slower buildup in inventories and a somewhat steeper drop in government spending, the U.S. Commerce Department said today. The economy expanded at an annual rate of 2.4 percent in the first quarter, down from an initial estimate of 2.5 percent, the Commerce Department said. Read more.
