The employment outlook in the Des Moines-West Des Moines metropolitan statistical area has improved over the last quarter and higher than the national average, but behind the pace of a year ago, according to a report released by Manpower today.
A new survey from Gallup shows that 27 percent of Americans believe it's a good time to find a "quality job," an improvement from the depths of the recession but nowhere near pre-recession levels. The last time Americans' optimism about job prospects reached 30 percent was January 2008.
Des Moines was No. 1 in an index of top Midwest economies. In the process it gained the attention of an Indiana news station, which interviewed Matt Anderson and other area leaders.
