The Iowa state insurance commissioner is urging carriers to get into the state's federally facilitated health insurance exchange while there are still lots of potential policyholders, LifeHealthPro reported. Despite the quickly approaching June 30 deadline for insurers to declare their intent to participate in the federal-state partnership exchange, only one carrier has signed up, and it's not Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart said. Gerhart said he hopes to persuade the Office of Personnel Management to operate a multistate plan in Iowa next year to ensure sufficient choice. Read more.
