Principal Financial Group Inc. has promoted Tim Dunbar to executive vice president and chief investment officer, effective Jan. 1. Dunbar will continue in his role as chief investment officer and retain oversight of the company's capital markets group. "This promotion reflects Tim's leadership of the company's investment strategy as our global investment footprint expands," said Larry Zimpleman, Principal's chairman, president and CEO. "His over 27 years of experience in our asset management, international and capital markets operations also give him a great base from which to drive our continued success in mergers and acquisitions." Dunbar, who joined Principal in the commercial real estate division in 1986, became chief investment officer in 2012.
