The University of Iowa’s nonprofit consulting center is expanding its services and opening a new office in Des Moines to assist nonprofit organizations in improving the lives of Iowans.The Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center, which has provided assistance to thousands of Iowa nonprofits since 2001, will open its new office Oct. 1 at UI’s Des Moines Higher Education Center, 2300 Fleur Drive. The center’s new services are focused not just on startups, but also on strengthening existing nonprofit organizations and helping them deliver services to Iowa communities effectively and efficiently, the organization said. The new services include strategic planning, leadership development and coaching, and board member and executive staff assessment. Paul Thelen, assistant director, will work in the Des Moines office two days a week. The center will continue to operate from its office in Iowa City, and will still hold seminars and workshops across the state throughout the year.
