Gov. Terry Branstad announced today he has accepted the resignation of Swati Dandekar from the Iowa Utilities Board, a position she has held since September 2011. "I want to thank Swati for her dedication and public service to the Iowa Utilities Board," Branstad said in a release. "I wish her well in her future endeavors. Our search for her replacement will begin immediately." The former state legislator from Marion County had resigned her seat in the Iowa Senate in 2011 to fill the unexpired portion of a board term left vacant by the resignation of Rob Bernstein. Dandekar would have served on the board until April 30, 2015, had she not resigned. The three-person board regulates the rates and services of electric, natural gas, water and communications utilities in the state.
