Armstrong-based Art's Way Manufacturing Co. Inc. today announced net income of $819,000, or 20 cents per share, in its first fiscal quarter, which ended Feb. 28, up from $193,000, or 5 cents per share, in the first quarter a year ago. The agricultural manufacturing company reported net sales of $8.4 million, up from $6.3 million in the first quarter a year ago, a 33 percent increase. A company release said the net income gain was primarily attributed to the net gain realized from the sale of land near Armstrong. The increase of sales can be partially attributed to the company's acquisition of Universal Harvester Co. in May 2012.
