The Siemens wind turbine manufacturing plant  -- a major supplier to MidAmerican Energy Co. -- said Tuesday it would layoff two-thirds of its workers at the Fort Madison plant.
The layoffs are prompted by sluggish orders due to uncertainty about whether Congress will extend a 2.2 cents-per-kilowatt-hour production tax credit before its Dec. 31 expiration, according to DesMoinesRegister.com.
