The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency  and the U.S. Department of Energy have selected  Pella Corp. as a 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award.

The manufacturer is one of 45 organizations nationwide and the only Iowa-based company to receive the award; Pella was rewarded for promoting Energy Star products and practices in its own operations, in addition to providing efficient products and services to consumers and within its community.

The Des Moines Independent Community School District also received a Partner of the Year Award for Climate Communications and Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence. Fifty-three of the district's schools received an Energy Star rating. This is the third consecutive year the district has received a partner award. As one of the country's 10 Climate Communications winners, the Des Moines school district has raised the awareness of students, teachers, families and the community of the impacts of climate change, the EPA said in a release.
