Art's Way Manufacturing Company Inc. said today that a harsh winter caused disruptions in the production of a range of agricultural, water treatment and steel cutting components, resulting in a nearly 26 percent drop in sales to $6.2 million in the first quarter and an 131.5 percent decline in net income compared with the year-ago period. Earnings per share fell to 6 cents from 20 cents. The company said in a release that demand for products serving the dairy and livestock markets was robust and provided a "reason to be optimistic about the rest of the year."
