Shontavia Johnson is an intellectual property and entrepreneurship expert at Drake University Law School, an author, lawyer, consultant, speaker and professor. She encourages entrepreneurs to run businesses that provide them with excitement and freedom, and she teaches her students how to think critically about advising business clients on intellectual property issues.
Where she's been
An eternal entrepreneur, Johnson runs a virtual law office for busy entrepreneurs who need innovative legal counsel. She also consults with entrepreneurs through her Freedom and Business Academy business startup program and her Million Dollar Side Hustle series, which can be found on her blog at www.shontavia.com. Johnson has spoken across the United States and internationally on issues related to entrepreneurship and intellectual property. She was recently named one of the 40 Lawyers Under 40 by the National Bar Association and IMPACT, and was awarded the Gertrude Rush Award by the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys.
Johnson is founder of Johnson International Group, and was a managing member of Jackson Johnson LLC. She was an associate professor at Drake University Law School, and was also employed by Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, and Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Greenville, S.C. She attended Clemson University in Greenville for her undergraduate education and University of Arkansas School of Law. Johnson has volunteered at the Science Center of Iowa, Gateway Dance Theater, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Iowa Intellectual Property Law Association, the ACT-SO program through the NAACP and Jewels Academy Inc.
