"The story on the housing marketing in Des Moines just keeps getting better," the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors said today in a report that showed median sales prices are continuing to rise and that houses are selling faster than they have since November 2007. "We know this will begin to slow down as mortgage interest rates rise, but for now this is very good news for sellers," Larry Pickering, president of the association, said in a news release. According to the report, 1,144 sales contracts were written in June and 1,038 contracts were closed. The median sales price was $170,000. Houses were on the market an average of 84 days.
