Statewide house sales dropped 7.9 percent over the year ending in April to 2,732 from 2,967, the Iowa Association of Realtors said.

The average sales price increased to $152,786 from $146,119 over the year, and the difference between list price and sales price ticked up to 95.7 percent from 95.4 percent.

The Des Moines Area Association of Realtors said earlier this week that pending sales in Greater Des Moines increased 18 percent from a year ago, but actual sales dropped about 2 percent.
