The University of Iowa's $30 million information technology building has received the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certification, the top ranking for buildings that meet the organization's standards. The structure is the first building on the Iowa City campus to achieve Platinum certification, and it is believed to the first educational institution data center to receive the designation, according to a news release. The architect and interior designer was SVPA Architects Inc. of West Des Moines. Confluence, with headquarters in Des Moines, was the landscape architect.
