    Urbandale-based homebuilder and commercial developer Rob Orton has let contracts expire for the purchase of the largest parcel of development ground in downtown Des Moines and a smaller, related, parcel, where he planned a $100 million residential and retail development.

    Contracts have expired for the purchase of the largest development parcel in downtown Des Moines as a well as a smaller, related piece of land, but the potential buyer said he still hopes a deal can be worked out, even if that takes another five years.
