Business economists believe economy will grow modestly this year
A survey of 65 economists who work for companies in a variety of industries expressed confidence that the U.S. economy will grow modestly this year, reportsMSN Money. The survey by the National Association for Business Economics showed that nearly a third of the economists' companies added jobs in the second quarter and 39 percent believe their businesses will add more jobs this year.
Gold prices top $1,300 on stimulus news
The price of gold, which slid 21 percent in recent months after rising to record highs during the recession, climbed 1.3 percent last week, reports Bloomberg. Analysts said the price increase was fueled by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's statement last week that it's too soon to say when the government will begin scaling back its economy stimulus package.
Apple is testing larger screens for iPhones and tablets
Apple Inc. and its Chinese suppliers are testing smartphone screens larger than 4 inches and tablet screens measuring about 13 inches diagonally, reports Market Watch. Competitior Samsung offers smartphones and tablets with different screen sizes, and in the first quarter, it captured 33 percent of the market.
