North Liberty-based trucking company Heartland Express Inc. today reported a net income of $14.1 million, or 16 cents per share, for the three months ended March 31, down from $19.7 million, or 23 cents per share, the prior year. Heartland ended the first quarter with operating revenues of $224.5 million, up from $134.3 million the prior year.
