A total of 179,846 passengers passed through Des Moines International Airport in November, up 0.8 percent from the same month a year ago, according to numbers released by the airport yesterday. A total of 2.02 million passengers have come through the airport in the first 11 months of 2013, up from 1.9 million in the same time period a year ago, a 5.6 percent increase. Cargo numbers were down 9 percent in November compared with a year ago, and are down 4.3 percent on the year. The airport also announced yesterday that it will offer free public Wi-Fi access for up to 45 minutes for passengers. Assistant Executive Director and General Manager Kevin Foley said passengers on average spend about 45 minutes waiting for their flights to depart.
