The carriage house is a rare surviving outbuilding from the late 1800s, according to the 6th Avenue Corridor. The first priority is the installation of a new roof. Gannon Roofing Supply has offered to donate the materials, and Caselli Construction the labor. Old Pane Woodworking will replicate any needed battens, windows and doors. Chaden Halfhill with Indigo Dawn LLC has volunteered to be the project adviser. The carriage house renovation was among projects in 14 communities that recently received $933,300 in IEDA Main Street Iowa Challenge Grants.
