This year's Des Moines Restaurant Week, Aug. 15-24, had a record-breaking year, bringing out more than 22,500 people who dined at 32 participating restaurants and contributed $324,000 to the local economy. This year saw a 2 percent increase in the number of participants, according to a news release, and average spending per check increased 5 percent. Next year's event will be Aug. 14-23.
