The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants to two Iowa airports totaling $1,353,912. The funds will facilitate various airport improvement projects, including $1,279,188 to Des Moines International Airport to construct a runway. The other allocated funds will go to Schenck Field in Clarinda.

Meta Financial Group Inc. reported today that Nasdaq has determined that the company will remain as a listed company on the Nasdaq Global Market. Meta Financial Group recently filed its quarterly report for the period ended March 31, 2008, in which it described record earnings for a quarter.

The Connecticut Department of Insurance has fined Employers Mutual Casualty Co. $43,000 for violating several state laws. According to a recently disclosed "market conduct" exam, Employers Mutual, part of Iowa-based EMC Insurance Cos., did not pay some people for the loss of their car after an accident, and failed to send some policyholders their new premium bills on time.

Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd. has authorized the purchase of 20 new locomotives at $2.2 million apiece. The new engines will be added to the company's 40-locomotive fleet. The railroad recently spent $22 million upgrading a portion of its track between Council Bluffs and Bureau, Ill.
