Six women entrepreneurs walked away with $40,000 from eight investors following the inaugural Invest in She event on Sept. 18, held in Cedar Rapids and sponsored by the Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference and Ascent Iowa.

After pitching their plan to grow their business, Molly Clubb and Jaymie Feldmann, partners at Cedar Falls-based Hired Hand Software, netted the most with a $13,000 investment from those investors.

Founded in 2005, Hired Hand Software has grown to serve hundreds of agriculture operations and businesses across the nation, providing custom website software and an animal marketing system, a tool built that allows breeders to manage their own website content to showcase their animals online.

Other investments were allocated as follows:

  • Nikki Hynek of Dollup Beauty LLC, Swisher -- $12,000
  • Stephanie Gray of Integrated Health and Hormone Clinic, Cedar Rapids -- $6,000
  • Andrea Hansen of VenueFox LLC, Des Moines -- $5,000
  • Jean Wenisch of John Holladay Graphics Inc., Cedar Rapids -- $2,000
  • Laurie Moritz of Sweet Raw Joy, Cedar Rapids -- $2,000

  • Bruce Lehrman, chief executive officer and founder of Involta LLC.
  • Lura McBride, chief operating officer, Van Meter Industrial Inc.
