Cal Hultman

Cal Hultman specializes in government affairs.
Before joining LS2group on an “of counsel” basis, Cal successfully engineered a distinguished 40-year career in Iowa politics and is known throughout as one of the state’s most accomplished political leaders and respected voices.
Cal started his career as a State Senator in 1972 and served in the Iowa Senate for 18 years. Recognized by his peers for his leadership skills, Cal served as the leader of the Senate Republican caucus for 14 years – with four of those years as the Senate Majority Leader.
He received numerous awards and accolades for his outstanding public service in the Iowa Senate from the National Conference of State Legislatures and was also recognized for his service to the Republican Party throughout his political career.
Since his retirement from the Iowa Senate in 1990, Cal has become one of the most effective statehouse lobbyists in Iowa, representing a broad group of clients and building a reputation for success.
Cal is a graduate of Iowa State University and is one of the founding members of Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines that he helped build from a startup congregation in 1994. It is now one of the largest and fastest growing Lutheran congregations in the nation.
