Kemin Industries Inc., a global ingredient manufacturer with operations on six continents and worldwide headquarters in Des Moines, plans to break ground next week on a new building for its Kemin Application Solutions division. The 11,700-square-foot building planned on Kemin’s campus on the east side of Des Moines represents a $4.5 million capital investment, the company said in a news release. The new facility will house a global engineering team that provides application expertise and support of Kemin’s liquid products for customers at their operations. Kemin’s president and CEO, Chris Nelson, and Kemin founders R.W. and Mary Nelson will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony on June 1 with members of the Kemin Application Solutions team to provide more details about the project. The project is the latest of numerous headquarters campus expansions by Kemin, which in July 2020 broke ground for a new $8 million quality control laboratory that’s expected to open this year. In 2017, Kemin completed a five-year, $125.5 million renovation of its Des Moines campus.
