Ag department opens sign-up for Iowa’s crop insurance discount program

93 wordsAg and Environment, All Latest NewsIowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced that online enrollment is now open for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s annual Crop Insurance Discount Program, which provides farmers a $5-per-acre premium reduction on fall-planted cover crops. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 23, 2026, at apply.cleanwateriowa.org. The program, jointly administered by the agriculture department and the USDA Risk Management Agency, supports Iowa’s Nutrient Reduction Strategy by incentivizing conservation practices. Now in its ninth year, the initiative has enrolled nearly 2,000 farmers and covered more than 1.4 million acres statewide.
