American Equity Investment Life Holding Co.’s annual annuity sales grew 9 percent in 2011 compared with the previous year, the company announced yesterday. The West Des Moines-based insurer’s fourth-quarter annuity sales totaled $1.4 billion, bringing its aggregate sales for the year to $5.1 billion. The company will announce its fourth-quarter earnings after the close of U.S. markets on Feb. 22 and will hold a conference call on Feb. 23 at 9 a.m.
