American Equity improves on income from a year ago
American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. reported second-quarter net income of $18.27 million, compared with a net loss of $1.5 million the previous year.
The company reported operating income of $29.01 million, down from $29.2 million the previous year. American Equity reported net income of $49.6 million in the first six months of the year, up from $13.38 million in the same period a year ago.
