The council held a special meeting on Oct. 22 to adopt the resolution and finalize the plans.

Monsanto is spending $4 million to add 23,000 square feet of laboratory and office space at its facility at 3302 S.E. Convenience Blvd. in Ankeny. Approximately $2.5 million will be spent on new machinery and equipment, and the expansion will create 25 new positions paying about $34 per hour. The building is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.

Lauridsen Group Inc./ Proliant Inc. and Embria Health Sciences are also part of the biosciences cluster developing in Ankeny.
